At initial meetings, members of Ciclovia Santa Monica have begun to sketch out plans. We’re moving forward on merchant participation, community relations, traffic & parking management, entertainment and other programming, and connecting Ciclovia Santa Monica to the streets and bike paths outside the event area.

Cyclist citizens who support Ciclovia Santa Monica show up at bike-related events around the city, keeping ears and eyes open to see what works and learn what cyclists in Santa Monica want. Ciclovia Santa Monica, both an event and the people putting it on, promises a breakthrough experience for participants. In the footsteps of the organizers of Santa Monica’s annual Independence Day parade (Thanks, Ocean Park Association!) and the Festival of Chariots (2010 marks the thirty-fourth successful parade), Ciclovia Santa Monica offers a car-free Main Street on a Sunday, complete with Farmer’s Market and the opportunity to explore the Main Street community at human speed, on foot and on wheels.
